Been reading up on Blackfire BlackIce wax. The hype is impressive. Have also seen positive reviews from a few years back. Any current users of the product care to comment on its performance, compared to the advertising claims? I do realize the subjectivity that can come into play on this sort of thing, but in general, is is worth $95.00?

Yes it's a very nice wax, it's on sale on AutoGeeks sister site Autopia for $50.

I don't know but, Collenite 845 is $20.00, so not sure any wax could be 5 times as good.

On the other hand if you use it and you are happy, then carry on.

If you are a pro you are spending more on product than you need to, thereby reducing your margin.

I was thinking of buying that yesterday.I reached out to my fellow detailer Robert as he and I do this for a living. He suggested Collinite as well.I have 3 classic cars to do before sat for the boca raton car show..So I'm gonna go with serum coating.Cheap easy to work with and a awesome deep shine for the money. These are all cadillacs with vibrant colors.

BlackICE is excellent. As with any of the products sold by PBMG, buy it when there is a sale and you'll be pleased. The $50 special plus a discount sale would be the way to go...

What is your hourly take-home pay,
after taxes (AT)?

•For ease of computations, let's say:
-This LSP costs $100.00
-Your take-home pay, AT, is $20.00 p/hr.

•Then:
-You'd have to work 5 hours to make up the
cost of investing in/purchasing this product.

•Decisions; decisions:
-Is there a plan to recoup this initial outlay,
turn it into a decent return-on-investment...
-or does that factor even matter?

Lol If everyone called into Suze Orman, we'd all be screwed! Heck, Blackfire might be on the top end of waxes but there are detailing items we spend much more on.

Furthermore, I have a couple small jars of this and it is very good stuff. The problem with me is that I have so many LSP's sitting around, the pricey stuff never gets used. It looks and smells exactly like black Kiwi shoe polish.

I'm not a wax guy, so use your lens of bias there when I say that I can't imagine that it is worth that price.

I would love to see a head to head blinded comparison between 845 and BF BlackICE: non-metallic black car, freshly polished and prepped and have the hood 1/2 & 1/2.

Almost everything is going to be a subjective assessment: looks, beading, sheeting, etc. I'd also like to see a durability comparison.

Again, I'm not a wax guy, but I used to use 845, and it was really exceptional. $100 for a wax?

I wonder if that $billion wax from CG is super worth it then.

But it's a "hybrid montan sealant wax". Whatever the f that is.

Noted - thanks for the correction.

Nevertheless, is it any better than something much less expensive? That's the question. Looks gorgeous in custmsprty's photo, but there's probably a lot of high quality polishing under that, and I wonder if it would be the same with 845...

Nothing personal there, just wonder sometimes why prices are what they are and what you really get for that extra money.

Story of the consumer market we live in. If I drive a 50k car and decide to spend 100.00 on wax to protect

As someone who has used BlackIce, the removal process can be a PIA if you don't apply a sealant like BF All Finish Paint Protection first. Is it worth $100 if you need to apply an additional LSP first? Well...
