I have been thinking about putting a coating on the wifes SUV. I do not have a usable garage or covered area to apply it. I would have to watch weather and pick my day. Maybe after one of the 2-3 cold fronts we get this year when the air is crisp & kinda dry and minimal chance of rain. Which one would be best suited to apply outside. I might be able to scare up a pop up tent to work under but that would be my only means of cover.

So I do 99% of coatings outside and in direct sunlight, because of this I use 2 brands

PBL coating
Mckees paint coating

After my main wash and other prep I stop just before the wipe down. I wipe each panel down as I get to it to remove dust if any and to make sure I only work in small areas, I do a quarter of a panel at a time

CQUK is an excellent coating option that is plenty forgiving for outside applications.

OP re CQUK Keep in mind its upper temp range constraint and that darker paint surfaces are noticeably warmer even in partly shaded...
IF the rapid flash off is of concern you can use regular CQuartz....

And no matter what you use try and get full shade, the variation in varying direct sunlight can make working consistently more challenging....

So this car was coated 6 months ago in direct sunlight in if I remember it was like 102° outside. One coat of mckees paint coating and I've only done 5 washes on it.54958549595496054961

CQuartz Classic and Optimum Gloss Coat will serve you well. Will basically be a wipe on and remove type of application. Wait till later in afternoon or morning when somewhat cooler in your area to apply.

Dr Beasly Plasma a Coat. I ordered some, haven't used it yet. Looks like an interesting product. When your done wiping it's fully cured. I didn't see if you could apply in the sun or not.

Gloss coat is the easiest to apply outside.McKees is doable but kinda oily and streaky a bit.I've used cq UK indoors and I personally don't care for it.To tacky to work with and to much drag as far as removal.Gtech serum is also great outdoors as well.
