Got a call from a long time friend and VW connoisseur a couple weeks ago regarding his custom 1967 VW Beetle he has been building and getting ready to enter in the world of wheels Boston.

The car had been painted a few weeks ago and it was in need of a full damp sanding and polishing to cut out the orange peel. The paint job was pretty nice but had some areas where dust and orange peel were worse than others.

The car was machine sanded with Mirka Abralon disks in 2000 and 3000 grit using 3in pads and 6in pads. Machines used were pc7424, GG 3in and Rupes Nano ibrid. The majority of polishing was handled with my G21, BOSS microfiber cutting pads and fast correcting cream. I did use Shine Supply Flat Top in some spots with the Rupes Nano ibrid.

I will be following up once the car is back together and ready for a final polishing.

The pics below are just polished with fast correcting cream.

Sanded with 2000/3000

Looks great, big difference after sanding and polishing! I wish I could stand inside trucks and out the sunroof to get the roofs!

I've worked on a 67 before. Those curves on the fenders are fun aren't they?

Any idea what year that engine cover/lid is? Doesn't look like a standard 67

And nice work! Looks great

Good eye on the engine lid! Your right it's a very rare factory piece off a 57. The rear fenders are custom 3in wider.
