Best tire shine/application for tires with aggresive sidewalls

My dad has a GMC All Terrain X which comes with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires (posting a photo below). I also have a Ram pickup with raised white wall tires on it. What do you guys recommend product wise and application wise for these tires? I usually use Meguiars hot shine which is a pain since it sprays all over the edge of the wheels and it does sling off a little bit while driving after I wipe off some of the excess. The only reason I use the spray is to cover the aggressive areas of the sidewall, I use other products on my other cars with normal tires. Does anyone have some tricks for this?

On tires with aggressive markings or sidewalk tread I use Perl in a fine mist spray bottle and just deal with wiping off overspray from the wheel. I get the most even coverage this way. Others use paint brushes and have good luck that way as well.

I used to apply Hyper Dressing onto those type of tires, but even using a brush to thoroughly work into the tire I would get sling all over the side of the truck the next day... So I brushed even more extensively + dried each tire with the Metro Sidekick and thought there would be no way it would sling now... Wrong, it still slinged.

I've moved onto tire foam. No sling at all now.

Absolute awesome brushes for these types of tires:

Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicators, tire brush, tire shine applicator (http://www.autogeek.net/carrand-tire-dressing-brush.html)

The "trick" is to ensure you properly prep the surface via proper cleaning and apply to a dry tire.

I usually use CarPro PERL or Meguiar`s High Endurance Tire Gel. I always try to ensure at least a few hours of curing before the vehicle is driven.

I have had very good results on aggressive side walls with the following process.
After cleaning the tires of any prior product with a good tire and rubber cleaner...
I use CQuartz DLux Plastic & Wheel Coating (http://www.autogeek.net/cquartz-dlux.html) using an Airbrush Compressor Kit.
For this type of project I picked up an inexpensive "kit" from Harbor Freight.
The air brush gets DLux in all the little tiny grooves. Let it dry/cure 12-24 hours.
No sling (after it's cured). Lasts for months.

I washed, dried, brushed into, brushed some more, blow dried the dressing 2x, then the truck sat for a whole day in the hot sun... Next day, sling!
I almost ran my head into a wall out of frustration.[emoji35]Lol.

I've had excellent results using water based dressings and have never experienced any sling at all. The key is to apply in thin layers until you achieve the finish you want. For me I'm looking only to blacken tires with very little gloss as I believe it's best to let the paint do all the talking and leave the tires with an understated look. I personally do not like the look of greasy, wet looking tires.

No sling at all on this one!
