GG Boss Pads Question

I am currently using the GG Boss pads and I love the results that I am getting. However, after doing some fast cutting using totaling of 6 pads like suggested, 3 seemed to have a large cracks where the hook and loop meets the sponge on the MF pads. This is after polish 1 car. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the pads or it's just fragile. I read a few reviews about these Boss MF pads and it seems that I am not the only one who is having this issue. Any advice? Thanks!

All of our BOSS microfiber pads do this, many times on the first use. This does not mean that they are ruined. We have continued to use these pads on many, many cars afterwards without issue.

Pics for sure.......but from what I have seen ( i use BOSS system exclusively ) this is caused by bumping up on the edge of an emblem or trim. It's actually is the pad being torn or cut from this. I have a few pads I have done this on, and they will continue to work fine, just inspect them during washing to make sure they have not separated more. If the backing and pad are separating cleanly....that is a sign of overheating and the bonding glue melting. Snap a few pics so we can get a better picture ( ;) ) of what is going on with yours!

Are you using it with a 21mm? Looks like the pads have been over heated to me.

are you using the correct size backing plate and what speed (what DA) along with how much pressure are you applying?

What tool and speed were you using?

I agree that they look like they got to hot or had too much product on them.

The cut on the foam also indicates it got caught on the edge of something. Hate to say it but looks like user error, that pad is toast.

I'm with Zubair and FirehouseMike, I think it's from running to close to emblems, trim, door handles...something.

Hi all, thank you guys so much for the replies. I am all about learning from mistake and improving. The pad was used on a GG6 with speed of 5-6 on a 5 inch backplate. It is a 5.5 inch pad. How can I reduce heat? I prime the pad with 4 dots of GG Boss Fast Cutting Cream then 3 dots after. Pressure around 15 lbs

For me, and the other overheated pads I've seen, it happens in the center of the pad. Unless maybe you were doing a lot of edging with it.

That looks like what happens when I bump a license plate edge trying to work around it. The larger throw will make it harder to work up close to protruding objects.

I would rather slow down the speed,take a bit longer and not overheat the pads.

How much pressure were you putting on that machine?

Speeds 5-6, 5" plate on a G21 is pretty stressful, but I've never seen rippling on the looped backing occur without a lot of downward pressure.
