The smaller the pad, the more intense the polishing power and two inch pads are among the smallest you can use. Small pads are great for addressing isolated defects in tight spaces like bumpers, trim, and complex body panels. Our plate features flexible molded urethane construction for durability, flexibility, and improved panel contouring. It also works on our 3" Random Orbital and is built Griot's tough with a machined and balanced aluminum hub to provide a long service life and smooth operation.

looks like another DA backing plate to buy along with the 3" HD backing plate when it's available. hopefully, AG will stock both...

possibly pair it with these pads if the velcro is 2 inches in diameter..

I always felt the GG3 was super underpowered. The only pads that I could actually get correction were MF pads. Its great to see thing and now smaller pad options for this machine. I feel it can maybe be an actual contender now...somewhat.

Griots 3" boss pads (thin) and Lake Country Thin Pros. There's been some folks having great luck with the new thin pads on the GG3.

with different options of pads and now backing plate, it should help maximize the potential of the machine. it's nice to have choices these days...

These 2 guys know a thing or 2 about a variety of different polishers and their abilities.. I'll take their word for it until I see convincing proof of the GG3 being more than a wax spreader, or occasional tool for sanding headlights. The new pads look neat, but show us some legit paint correction using them with the GG3. A demo video would be great.

obviously with a smaller backing plate and pad on the DA it's going to help it rotate more (regarding 2"). take a look at this article what the GG3 can do with even the 3.5" thinpro pads..

Alright, I stand corrected.
I'm going the other route.. I'm eyeing the new Boss 3" Beefy backing plate to combine with my HF DA. Looking forward to hearing some reviews once people get their hands on it.

Put the GG 3" on any type of tilt and the pad will stop, I don't care what type of foam pad you're using. The Rupes Mini has this problem, too. MF pads work much better on these machine, as they will contour a lot better.

Sounds like maybe you've changed your mind? I pulled some screen shots of a video I took of some damp sanding, followed by using the GG3 along with Megs 3" MF Cut disc and LC 3" white pad. BOSS cremes were used (Correcting Cream and Perfecting Cream)

This was done on a practice panel I've used for various testing.

Myself, I'm excited to have more options with the pads coming out, especially after Megs discontinued their small MF Cut discs.

the new lake country microfiber pads also come in the 2.25" size too (AG doesn't stock them right now) and with the new 2" DA backing plate it's another option as well... :dblthumb2:
