Hey guys, how are you?

I recently noticed some spots on the paint of my dad's car, but I couldn't identify what they are. They don't seem to be water marks. Could you help me identifying it? I guess only polishing will remove them...?

Have you tried wiping that with anything? Why do you say they don't seem to be "water marks"? That looks like water spots to me. If they don't come off with washing/QD/etc., then yes the next step would be a cleaner wax, paint cleaner, light polish.

That was my first thought.

Hopefully it's topical.

:iagree:

I've often used a (spot-free) car-washing
sesssion; good QD'ing technique(s); or, a
combination of both processes...to get
the spots out.

I basically rubbed it with my finger, nothing else hehe
It doesn´t like water spots to me because of the larger area at the top that doesn´t have a droplet form.

What QD means? haha

From the cars I get in my shop with similar spots, it's clear coats failure. Hopefully that's not the case, but sure looks like it to me. QD = Quick Detailer

I would say early stages of clear coat failure. Doesn't look like water spots I have encountered. Can you feel anything on the paint? If you can't feel anything it's likely it's under the paint.

I'm going to try to be a little different and say possibly staining from detergent soaps from commercial use?
Only say that because i had a few friends that ran threw those auto car washes and looked similar to this.
Maybe try a light polish and go from there?

I think its some sort of chemical etching or just dry pre-wash spots. Polishing should remove it.

Did claying have any effect?
