What can i do to fix bubbling clear coat before it starts to peel and look like garbage? Is there anything i can do myself having very little knowledge or should i bring it to a professional. Also if i do that how much do you think it would cost me?

Once the clear starts to bubble like that, it has failed and there's nothing that you can do. We did have a member who sanded his and sprayed some rattle can clear on it...I can't remember if it was 2K clear or not (be very careful if you spray 2K to use proper respiratory protection).

Could you link me to that thread possibly? And if i took it to a detailing place do they have the means to restore my clear coat if not replace it fully and do you think that would even be worth it

Do you have pictures? And was it a repaint? Sometimes tree sap will bubble up and it can be mistaken for clear coat if you've never seen it before. I have personally never seen clear coat bubble on a factory paint job but have seen it on quite a few repaints.

Here is a good post started by Mike Phillips http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/hot-topics-frequently-asked-questions/29197-beginning-clearcoat-failure.html
Essentially without photo's it sounds like you're describing clear-coat failure and there isn't much you're going to be able to do detialing wise. Best bet is to take it to a body shop

You need to take it to a body shop for a repaint.

The paint on my hood is factory paint and it's bubbling up in 2 areas as we speak... The larger portion here began bubbling up this past Feb. and this is what it looks like right now.

It started off as a tiny bubble just like this, which has currently begun to happen on the exact other side of the hood. I predict it will wind up looking just like the other side does.

The hood is off a 94' Cadillac STS. Factory paint.

So the dark spots in the middle are what you're talking about? And you dried a larger spot around each? Or did you just wipe the whole panel? The dark spots turn "smokey white"? or the larger area?

Wasn't paying attention and thought what elderado posted was your pictures. From your picture it's still kind of hard to tell but if it turns white like you said then it's most likely clear coat failure.

The dark spots that are the only problem. When its not wet they are white. They are pretty small right now i just want to make sure i know what it is.

How much do you think an entire re-paint would cost me?
