Detailing New Paint

Had to get a spoiler repainted to fix a small little accident! Ooops. Anyways...it's a 2016 and the Ford dealer body shop did the repair and repaint. It actually turned out very well. I was at first scared that the repair would be slicker than the rest of the car, but they actually did an extremely good job matching up not only the color/shade, but the overall finish as well. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, LOL.

So my question is...I don't know too much about modern paint products or procedures, but what's a rule as far as detailing the refinished part? Should I give it some time before any polishing or waxing/LSP? It is a paint/clear coat, and I recall him mentioning baking.

I would not use a wax or sealant for at least 30 days. I waited 90 days until I applied any protection type products to a repainted part and have had great results. My paint guy said 30 days was more than enough in his opinion. You could always call and ask the shop what they recommend. Hope this helps some

How long ago was it repainted? All refinished product is painted then resprayed with clear coat to match the rest of the surface. To be safe I would wait at least 14-20 days after painting to give it enough time to cure properly. If you do it to early you might affect the curing process. After that you should be able to use what you prefer to use. Its obviously better to use higher quality products to ensure the refinish surface stays protected and maintains it appearance.

I am currently using M305 on some fresh paint and I am impressed with the product. I am not going to touch the paint for 90 days.
