Film applied on wheels?

Detailing a grand Cherokee and wanted to polish the wheels. I did a small test spot with a polish with no change in texture, such has clarity or brightness. I examine it closer and see some flaking on the wheels on all wheels like a bad film peeling. Anyone have any experience with these?

Sam, sounds like they are clear coated and it is beginning to fail. Post up some pics when you can.

The customer picked the car up and knew about it. Said he was going to replace it under warranty. I knew the wheels were peeling, just wanted to see why the unaffected portion did not react to the wheel polish on the small test spot area I performed.
