I have kovax or eagle abrasive buflex 2500 and 3000 grit papers.
This dry sanding papers are good for removing light orange peel in OEM paint.

Wet sanding for me..paper will not load up as fast like dry sanding, not to mention the dust.

I'm am not familiar with that brand and do not do much sanding of paint.

I really prefer sanding wet. The paper does not get clogged up nearly as easy and there is no dust. It does make a different mess of its own to clean up though.

It is easier to see your work and results when working dry.

Thanks for your opinion.

However:
I don't agree with sanding OEM paint
in order to remove orange peel.

If you're asking if either process:
dry-sanding...or wet-sanding...
OEM paint is good;

Then my answer is:
No...I cannot tell you that
either process is good for
sanding OEM paint.

Aside from wet sanding a stray scratch or two or even a touch up repair, I agree with Bob. OEM paint is almost always too thin for leveling orange peel. Doing so would be asking for trouble.

Don't understand why you need
to remove the orange peel...is this
going to be a show car?

Please read this Mike Phillips article
for a thorough explanation of why
not to sand OEM paint...IMO: you'll
be glad you did.

You can do whatever you would like to your own vehicle, however you have already received the majority vote of it being a very bad idea to attempt to level out factory clear coat as it will be much too thin afterwards. In other words you will most definitely experience premature clear coat failure if you proceed. Your other thread yielded the same overall response to just polish it out and live with the orange peel.

I remembered and found this thread the other day after GSKR mentioned the Carpro pads.

Be careful!!!

Edit: I think he has another thread about the denim pads somewhere too.

Hi bob

How are you?

As instead of removing orange peel in factory paint , can I try extra layering of clear coat above factory clear coat ??

can I try ??

Please. Don't.
Thank you.

BTW:
I agree with the below members'
postings/answers...(to your same
line of questioning)...that are found
in your other orange peel thread:

Shall I try extra layering of clear coat
above factory paint clear coat???

Can I do this one ???

The only way to add clear coat is
in a body shop where the spray the
car with clear.

I'd leave it to the pros..........

Are you sure that the orange peel is in the clear coat and not in the base coat? I have some in the vertical panels of my black car, but it is in the base coat. There is no way to remove it without sanding the entire car and re-shooting it with clear.

These guys did it, but it was a lot of work.
