How can I remove swirls and water spots out of my BMW i8 ?
Not enough typing time now days to type out detailed replies in e-mails for one set of eyeballs. This is what our forum is for, (it's not a blog but it's okay to call it whatever you want)
Mike, been reading your blog and want to get some of the product to remove swirl mark and also protect and shine.
What do you recommend for my bmw i8.
Also, do you have anything for water spot?
Below is a list of high quality tools, pads and product to do the job right the first time. I care not which polisher you purchase, my personal preference is the Porter Cable because I like the fit and finish of the tool overall and anything I want to accomplish using a simple dual action polisher I can do with the PC. If I need more power I use either a FLEX 3401 or a rotary buffer. That said, the Griot's Garage 6" DA is a copy of the PC and most people will agree it has more power and a better warranty.
Which ever tool you purchase, you WANT a 5" backing plate so you can use 5.5" foam buffing pads.

Griot's Garage 6" DA (http://www.autogeek.net/new-griots-polisher.html)
Both of the above are available as HD models. The letters HD mean they come with a Heavy Duty 25' cord pre-wired into the tool so you
A: Don't need an extension cord to work around the cord.
B: Don't need to worry about harming the electrical components by using too light of duty an electrical cord.
C: Preserve the tool warranty.

Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-finishing-glaze-finishing-polish-3-0.html) <-- this is NOT a glaze but a fine cut polish, disregard the words used to describe the product it works GREAT.
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 (http://www.autogeek.net/wg5500.html)
Here are 3 brands of thin 5.5" foam pads that will work great on either the PC or the GG. When doing correction work you want plenty of foam cutting pads as clean dry pads rotate best and give you best defect removal. You need less polishing pads and only one pad to machine apply the sealant.

The primary benefit to super thin foam pads is that free spinning orbital polishers are able to rotate and oscillate these pads better than thick pads.
What does this mean to you?
You can compound and polish paint to perfection faster than ever before when using orbital polishers like the Porter Cable 7424XP or the Griot's Garage 6" DA polisher.
Currently Autogeek carries three brands of super thin foam pads,
From left to right
