Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum so this'll be my first post! I recently used Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba wax paste on my car and i noticed that it began to collect dust and particles after a couple of days. Do you think i'm applying too much wax to the car?

Thanks!

Do you think i'm applying too much wax to the car?

Probably not.

Now, let's ask this question:
Will (auto) Waxes attract dust?

{Hopefully the below explanation
will help answer this question.}
__________________________________________

-"We've done a number of tests where we will
strip the hood of a car from all waxes and any
other kind of paint care product,

-then taped off small, square sections to
apply our waxes and competitor's waxes.

-Then we've exposed the hood to the
outdoors, just like you would do if you
parked your car outdoors.

-The results were ALL waxed section
would have more dust on them then
non waxed sections.

-So the dust accumulation isn't a
"Meguiar's" problem, it's a problem for
anything that is applied to the surface
from what our results have shown.

-It's likely a static charge being
induced by rubbing the paint.

-Clear coat paints have a static charge
on their own, rubbing on them could
only increase this.

-Besides that, dust in the air has a static
charge and even if you could invent an
anti-static wax, you can't remove the
static electricity in all the dust in the air in
the geographical location in which you live."

Hi welcome to AutoGeekOnline!

Carnauba waxes attract more dusts/pollen than their synthetic waxes.

Soveran is the worst in liquid.Great wax and product but a magnet for dust to stick.Bob has this covered.I would take it off and apply 476.

Throw it in the trash and get a good synthetic sealant. Will last longer on a properly prepared surface too. Not to mention the synthetic sealants don't attract nearly as much dust.

Some folks like the look of a wax.

I 100% agree.

But I think 90%+ of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Sometimes it helps to wipe it down with some detail spray on a microfiber to reduce static electricity. Some do this right after wax removal.

What are some good synthetic wax's would you recommend?

For this particular conversation,
I'm going to call/categorize synthetic
waxes as being being Sealants.

With that in mind...
I'll suggest that the following Sealants
are good; in fact: real good!

-Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
-Finish Kare 1000P
-Finish Kare 2180 Ultra Polymer Sealant
-Meguiar's M21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0

I'll toss Meguiar's Ultimate Wax into the mix.

you will always attract more dust right after you wax, all you have to do is wait a day or two then hit it with a duster and wipe it down with a good waterless wash, problem solved

i would try the new pinnacle black label sealant, the wolfgangs glossy but it looks to artificial to me.
