for a couple i did this my third car never detailed anything before this

my 05 ram is heavily oxidized and has lots of swirls and scrathes

I tested a section today using the following

meguiars gc wash
eagle mit with meg quick detail till smooth
meg clay bar
griots 6 inch da
orange pad set on 5.5
meg ultimate compound
meg ultimate polish
orange pad
meg deep crystal carnuba

i think the meg uc did ok but i am wondering if i should apply it with a yellow lcntry pad a bit more cut
and get a few more of the surface scratches

IMO stick with the Orange Pad. The Yellow Pad may be too aggressive. BTW, it looks great! When you follow up with a polish IMO it will look awesome. But based on your pictures you are doing fine. As long as you stick with the technique you are doing you should be fine. If there are some scratches you still want to remove just do it again with the compound and orange pad. That's why you wipe and check your work.

Great job and looks like your ride will look awesome after you are done. Show pics please!

Nice job! Make sure youre cleaning the pad frequently with a brush or MF towel. Try another pass with what you've been using. If youre not satisfied, go to a more aggressive pad. Remember, some RIDS may not be removed completely, especially with an 8mm DA, and you want to remove the least amount of clear possible.

Is there a brush you recommend? I see the griots brush but it's around 15 dollars, is there something I can puck up at an autoparts store. What am I looking for in terms of brush type. I'm going to order some lake country orange pads today and pad cleaner. Right now I only have an orange griots and microfiber griots. And a wax pad.
