Hi all,

I've the stuff mentioned in the subject. I've been lurking around the AG forums for awhile
and read tons of stuff. Finally, this morning, did a test spot on the hood. Didn't make
any difference.

First, started with LC Crimson pad on 7424. Applied SF4000 to the entire pad, spread
the area. Did 1 to 2 passes with no pressure at speed 1. Then 2 to 3 passes at speed
4 with light pressure. Then eased off several passes with no pressure. Didn't see
any difference.

Next, started with LC Tangerine pad and followed the same procedure as before. No
luck.

What I'm doing wrong? What should I change?

p.s. I also have Rupes LHR75E mini and 4" LC HT pads

HT Crimson and Tangerine pads with 4000 won't do much correcting as that combination is really mild. Step up to 400 on Tangerine, if that doesn't work 400 on Cyan should.

Hey Zubair, I hear Porsche black is soft and read that FG400 will hit the paint hard.

Your test spot has proven it to either be not as soft or the defects deeper. You need to go more aggressive to get the desired results.

Understood. Any suggestions on number of passes & pressure?

Not without having the paint infront of me no, but 6-8 passes to break down the DAT abrasives with medium pressure should get the desired results with 400. You can then clean up any compounding haze with the HT Crimson, 4000 and 4-6 passes.

Crank that PC up, wide open.

I agree..Porsche black is super soft (newer Porsche Dunno) and should correct easily. Crank up the volume and you should see results. One more thing, slow arm movement (1" per second).

With a 7424, 6-8 section passes in your test spot, apply 15 lbs of pressure, PC at 5 or 6

Give this video a look.

The only thing I do differently, is only use 4 drops of product to start, and reload with 2 or 3, depending on the size of the section. I don't season the pad with product. With FG 400, I might spritz it with Meguiar's m34, but that's if the weather is really hot and humid. I also use "moderate" pressure, because I want that back plate to spin as fast as possible.

You could also experiment with speeds of you have time. Speed 4.5-5 might get you more polish time with the larger abrasive clusters, before they begin to break down. This might require firmer pressure, but shouldn't be so much that you're drastically slowing the pad down.

Is it Jet Black or the non metallic Black. the regular Black is so soft you look at it you get swirls. The Jet is a little harder paint. The Menz 400 or SIP 1500 works good on the Paint for me. I use a orange Pad or Yellow LC. I crank up the Pc to 5 or 6. It seem to work with 5 to 6 passes. Then I follow up with White Pad and Menz 4500. On a 2 pr 3 speed. Also I like to change pads more often with the Black. I actually like using my Flex with the Porsche Black more. You will love the car. The Caymans are great

Generally for any kind of major correction, the PC has to be at 6. 5 won't really do the job unless you're just using a finishing polish and a finishing pad. I've found that on even soft Mazda paint, 6 will do the correction with a compound after 6 to 8 passes but 5 will do only some correction.

It is regular black. Don't think Porsche call it Jet black.
