Can I use McKee's 37 Waterless Wash concentrate over Zaino products? (Z2/Z5/Z6)

I use Zaino on both of my new vehicles (Dark colors) and the Zaino Z6 is way too expensive to keep using as a waterless wash in between actual washings.

Wondering if anything in the Mckees 37 will either react badly or strip off the Zaino in any way?

Try this instead of Z6; I can't tell the difference: 128 oz. Duragloss Fast Clean & Shine Detail Spray #923 (http://www.autogeek.net/128ozdufacls.html)

Of course the McKee's Waterless will be fine with your Zaino, as well. Or you can use this if you want to stay "in the family" Duragloss Aquawax Waterless Wash N Wax #971 (http://www.autogeek.net/duragloss-aquawax-waterless-wash.html)

In the family?

"Chemically" speaking, perhaps?

Bob

I guess, but then can the Zaino be applied over the other product or will it somehow screw up the Zaino process is what I need to know.

Yeah, in the family, if you can't read between the lines I can't help you.

Zaino is just a sealant (albeit a very good one), just like Duragloss makes sealants, etc. There is no secret sauce that makes Zaino better or incompatible with other products. If you like Z6 as a waterless wash (never heard of anyone using that way, but ok), but it's too expensive, then try some Duragloss Fast Clean & Shine, I guarantee it will do just as good a job.

If you are worried about the "shine enhancing polymers" in the McKee's 37 Waterless Wash interfering with your Zaino process, simply do a Z6 or FC&S wipedown before reapplying your Zaino. Or if you use the Duragloss Aquawax Waterless Wash N Wax I believe that will leave you with the compatible surface you desire.

My detailing knowledge and I come from a time well before any of these products ever existed (along with most forum members. Hell, I have pro waxes older than most forum members ) so that's why I didn't "get" it.

So thanks for the explanation, now I understand.:xyxthumbs:

I use Zaino Z6 as a detailer, not a waterless car wash. It's a lot cheaper than the McKees 37 High Gloss Spray.

Heck, you can't be older than me (well...maybe). Sal has tried to create a mystique and wound up with a cult. But it's coming up on 10 years since there was anything added to the "What's New" page over there in Zaino land. Really the only unique product over there is Z-FX, and out here in the alternate universe we had a product called Polycharger which was a similar idea (or Duragloss 601 which is the exact same idea as Z-1...hmmm).

There are a lot of really great products out today, you pretty much can't go wrong. I personally dislike waterless washes, but rinseless is really great. You can't go wrong with the Duragloss rinseless, or the Wolfgang Uber. People also seem to like the McKee's 37 rinseless.

I thought the correct response should have been: No. Car would explode.

But I guess the above is also acceptable.

I'll really date myself and say that I have a leather chamois that is probably close to 40 years old (haven't used it in probably 10 yrs though) and a ZEP tire brush that is 30 yrs old that I still use to this day. ZEP was a huge supplier of car detail products way back when.:dblthumb2:

Yes he has, but I've used it for many years and it's still super easy to use after getting the proper paint correction done.

I personally dislike waterless washes, but rinseless is really great.

Maybe I should clear up what I call washless.

Vehicle is perfectly clean and detailed, sitting in my workshop. Take it out for a couple hours to run errands, gets dusty and maybe goes thru a puddle or two. I then bring it back into the shop, go over the dusty parts with a Cali duster, then take the Z6 and apply liberally on a panel, using a thick detail towel (high quality) wiping off spray and dust. Turn towel, continue......

I never do the process if it has actually been out in the rain though.

So maybe I'm calling it something different than what today's detainers call it, I don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey, I have a whole shelf of Zaino products. Of course, here in NJ we can't order from the Zaino website, we have to email/PayPal the local distributor in PA (who is quite good). After being first to the market with a WOWA sealant in 2007, Zaino seems to have rested on their laurels (other than a couple of really expensive microfiber towels), and passed up the opportunity to maintain that leadership high ground in the face of some very definite industry trends (waterless and rinseless washes, coatings, and the broader acceptance/use of machine polishing).

As I alluded to above, in the last decade we've seen a large shift in wash methods for a variety of reasons. Quick Detailers like Z-6 have in a sense become obsolete as waterless washes have taken on that "wipedown" role. Spray waxes have replaced the use of QD's as drying aids, as well. That being said, Z-6 was always a little different than most other QD's, but I think you will find that DG FC&S also shares those characteristics.

I haven't used this product, but here's a review from a knowledgeable member:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/97971-duragloss-971-waterless-wash-wax-review.html?highlight=Duragloss

It has Aquawax in it, which on its own might remind you of watered-down Z-8.

You might also want to look into rinseless washing to see if it fits with your lifestyle. In any case, hard to beat this sale price on the waterless wash right now, if you are buying something else here: http://www.autogeek.net/duragloss-aquawax-waterless-wash.html
