I have been away from the forums for a few years . I am starting to get back into it. I'm wondering what are the advantages of using Wolfgang coating vs a wax or a sealant ?

Ease of application and not as much prep needed for a wax or sealant. Better durability, and easier maintainance, but more prep and possibly a more difficult application with a coating.

Here's a current hot thread that is pretty related.

I will be trying a coating. What are your recommended products?

For me the biggest overall advantage is durabiliy of coatings.

There are several products that will probably make you happy. The first question is how confident are you with your detailing ability. Several on this forum recommend Duragloss Enviroshield for first timers. Read those recommended threads on this forum and you'll get a good idea. Wolfgang, McGee's, Pinnacle and others are getting good reviews. Some coatings are for paint only. Some, like the Duragloss, can coat everything including glass and trim. Then the next level may require a little more careful installation. Optimum, CQuartz, Polish Angel, Gtechniq, Gyeon and many others are great products, each with their own unique characteristics.
Read and study. Go with your decision. Have fun with it.

This will be my first coating application.

Optimum gloss coat is extremely easy to apply and would be ideal seeing as it would be your first time applying a coating.

Here is a vehicle that was coated yesterday with gloss coat.

Wolfgang Ceramic coating is very easy to use and can be used all all surfaces unlike some of the others. I switched to Wolfgang after my first use. The results were awesome (like most good coatings).
