I have pretty much every color of LC Flat pad (yellow, orange, white, black, blue), but I don't have any wool/microfiber pads for heavy correction/compounding work. What would you guys recommend and how many pads should I be getting for 20-21 foot boats (wakeboard boats)?

If you are going to be doing heavy correction on a lot of boats, you should consider getting a good rotary buffer and some wool pads. It will save you a lot of time and will be able to correct better than GG6 DA.

Yea...I understand that...ideally I would like a Flex 3401, but I don't do this for a living and I will probably never have a boat that needs heavy heavy correction work. Regardless I think it would be good to get a some more aggressive pads for the GG6.

You should look into the Lake Country ThinPro 5.5" Pads: Lake Country ThinPro Foam Pad System 5.5 Inch (http://www.autogeek.net/lake-country-thinpro-5-inch.html).

Griots Garage also has some thin MF pads that will work good on the GG6 for more cut: Griots Garage 5 inch Micro Fiber FAST Cutting Pad (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-mf-pad.html).

I have the most aggressive foam pads you can buy, so I think the MF pads would be the way to go. How many would you typically use on a boat 20-21 feet?

In that case...
Lake Country’s Foamed Wool
pads should suffice, IMO.

Depends on how bad the boat is and how you plan on cleaning your pads.

Compressed air is probably the best way for cleaning MF pads on the fly. If you don't have access to compressed air then get a wool pad spur.

I would get 4-6 pads. The cleaner the pads, the better the results.

Thanks - I typically use Mike's Pad Cleaning on the Fly technique...using a terry towel

That's a good technique also.

Compressed air, a spur or a brush will help to fluff the fibers back up on the MF pad.

I have compressed air at my house which is nice but if I'm detailing a buddies boat I probability won't have access but shouldn't be too big of a deal.
