View Full Version : Rinseless with distilled water = no need to dry?

In another thread, someone said they used deionized water to mix their rinseless washes so that they wouldn't need to dry the car. The water just evaporates without leaving water spots.

Does this work with distilled water as well? Anyone else use this method?

I tried it-never worked for me.
De-ionized is a whole different deal. I never tried it with a rinseless, but I used to have a car wash at work. I'd hand wash my car, then use the de-ionized as a rinse-that worked great.

You can do it. However, it will dry with spots, but they're just polymer. You'll have to go back and wipe the spots which should come off easily.

You have to wipe off the residual fluid. It'll leave spots from the polymers.

•Not going to comment on using DI Water
to dilute RWs' formulations, as that's not
part of my mixing-protocol.

•On the other hand (since I do use
distilled water to dilute RWs/WWs)...
-I'll take a stab at its evaporating---with
no water spots left behind---when used
in Rinseless-Washing scenarios.

As such:
•When the distilled water does evaporate
(time, temp., humidity, etc., dependent)
-what happens to the remainder of the
ingredients, (that ones that make up the
Rinseless-Wash's formulation), that were
in the original Rinseless-Wash's solution?

-Would they also evaporate?
-Have to be dried/wiped away, or not?

•Let's use Meguiar's Rinse Free Express
Wash (D114) ingredients as an example:

SECTION 2: INGREDIENTS
•WATER
•PROPYLENE GLYCOL
•ETHOXYLATED ALCOHOLS
•LINEAR ALKYL QUATERNARY
•AMMONIUM COMPOUND
•BENZALDEHYDE

-Which of these ingredients, if any, will
evaporate away, as does the distilled water?
