I got step rails put on my truck about a month ago and went to buy some polish for them and realized I dont know which one it is? Is there a way to tell a difference between the two? Or is there a product that works for all types of metals that I can buy at a local store. Thanks

Friend uses it and loves it.

Says it works on all metals, but doesn't say aluminum specifically. I know people use it on Chrome with good results.

I belive most of regular metal polishes work on either. I know I use all kind sof things on my bike which has various types of chroiming and aluminum. Cheap turtle wax if you need grit, neverdull are great. Finer polish Wenol Blue, Simi, and i have yet to try the NXT polysh by Megs. Check out the bike thread/froum on here, I started a good polish thread a few weeks ago with lots of great info from these guys!

wipe an area of the wheel with Lemon juice, if you see tarnish (black) on the towel it is likely High-Polished uncoated aluminum. If it doesnt, then you got chrome or sealed aluminum. You dont want to use metal polish on sealed aluminum as it is basically clearcoat and must be treated like paint.

Thanks for all the replies I'm pretty sure now that I have Chrome step rails and I will either use the NeverDull by Eagleone or Mothers Chrome polish.
