There is a 25 x 35 inch one marketed as a drying towel Griots Garage PFM Terry Weave Drying Towel (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-garage-pfm-drying-towel.html)

and a set of two 16 x 16 inch towels marketed as a "jack of all trades" Griots Garage PFM Terry Weave Towel, Set of 2 (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-pfm-2pack.html)

Is there any difference other than the size? I don't like super large towels like the drying towel and would prefer the two smaller towels. The video linked in the product description is the same and seems to indicate that the larger one is better for drying because it can hold more water.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the big one, but I really doubt there's any difference in the material. It just wouldn't make sense to make two different combinations as opposed to producing one material, just cut and sewn into two sizes. I have the 16x16 inchers and they are without a doubt the best towels I've ever used. I know it seems small, but these are incredibly thirsty. One issue I have with the larger towels is that they're more difficult to manage. You have some parts of the towel that are dry and other parts wet, so you can be spreading moisture over an area that's already dry, plus too many folds to keep it off the ground on lower panels. I guess my ideal size would be something like a 16 x 24 inch, but until then, I'll stick with the 16 X 16 size.
Go ahead and buy a few;You won't be disappointed.

I asked the same question of the folks at Griots. Here's the response I got:

"Thank you for taking the time to email us here at Griot's Garage.

The PFM Terry Weave Towels (item# 55586) measure 16” by 16” square and are intended to be used with Speed Shine or Spray-On Wax, or can be used to remove wax. The PFM Terry Weave Drying Towel (item# 55590) is made of the same microfiber material, but is thick, and is a larger 25” by 35” size and will give you the convenience of one-pass drying on your vehicle."

My sense is that they're the same material, but the large one may be thicker. That being said, I've not heard one negative review of the smaller towel as it pertains to drying. For the record, I only have the larger one.

I recently changed from a chamois to a jelly water blade and the smaller 16x16 PFM towels. Love these towels.

The small 16x16's are amazing. Those are all I use to dry my truck and my wifes car.

I don't like big bulky towels either. These things hold a ton of water.

In general I prefer smaller towels for drying (16 x 16). Much easier to handle. I only use the big towels for the roofs of SUVs or Minivans where I can toss the towel across the roof and pull it to grab the water.
