Would simply wet sanding fix this or does touch up paint need to be involved?

Miracles do happen with sand paper, although looks kinda deep you have nothing to lose now by sanding it.

Depends how deep the scratches are. And on how much paint is on the car that you'd be able to sand or polish away to make the surface level without striking through the paint.

that's on a flat?

without knowing the car, paint situation (repaint, original, etc.), paint depth, if scratches catch nail, etc...i'd aim to reduce the appearance with compound and polish. blowing through the clear is one concern if you start sanding but so is generally making the clear too thin on a part of the car that gets a lot of abuse in terms of UV, etc.

but again, a lot of potential influencing factors that are not known on this end.

It was pretty deep. Def deeper than finger nail. Did not want to go anymore. Looks good from far away though ha. Was my first attempt on something like that. Thanks for replies all.
