Going take wet sand with 1000 then 2000. Rotary with electrified wool and marine31 heavy cut then 3401 with orange and marine 31 gloss restorer. This job is strictly fiberglass no brite work. 36 Hatteras. I bid out to 45-55 a foot

I would see if 1500 will finish out.Sanding twice is dismal and insane on the size of the boat.I would try buff magic with wool on 3401 first.

I would try Abralon 1500 but I don't think they make it

I really haven't had good results with 3401 and wool. But the wool pads I'm using may be too long of pile

I've had good results with 3m rubbing compound on boats

It will be easier for you if he can take it out of the water,so you can safely zip on thru sanding with a da .

I may have him do it. It does need a bottom job before it ships to PV Mexico

+1 on giving Buff Magic a try. Actually, 3M offers similar paste type marine products tailored specifically for the marine industry, as does a few other manufacturers like Aqua Buff...and all of them could actually be relabeled products produced by one company. Would be something to look into.

Pink Buff Magic is typically all you hear/see talked about and sold, but they do offer a more aggressive white Buff Magic...couple that using the pink after the white and you're sure to have a winning combination...though pink may suffice on its own. It's a solid product for gel-coat work that doesn't get the attention I think it should. I've never seen a write-up here on its use, I don't think. I know that it along with a rotary and wool is awesome. No reason the 3401 and the right pad with more Buff Magic couldn't finish up nicely...and hologram free to boot. Perhaps it abrasive technology is inferior to more modern products, IDK. Seems to work just fine for some manufacturers, then again, most are building only white colored boats, thus the finish won't show holograms easily.
