My wife's gas pedal had a bunch of crude cemented around the base. This is normal here in Wisconsin with the harsh winters and road salt. About 20 seconds in with the VX 5000 and this was the result.

Steamers I think are time wasters, especially doing volume. There quite pricey and pose a risk on certain materials.for me a quick spray and wipe done.steamers are good for trashed interiors which I stay away from, delicate engine cleaning or graphic removal.many here will disagree but 24 years everyday experience in the industry I would rather save my money.

Each to their own. For me, and only using it a couple times, I can steam clean an entire interior including door panels, dash, cup holders, seats, Windows, etc., faster than I can wipe down using another method. Not to mention it disinfects and gets into places a MF and spray cannot.

I also have a handful of customers that do not like chemicals on anything. Steam cleaning beings a green aspect to my business and caters to those customers who are chemical sensitive or just simply do not want chemicals in their vehicles.

I won't be using it all the time but am glad I have it as another option.

Plus, it's fun to use!

But again, each to their own.

Nice work. I tend to lean toward GSKR on this one but I see the "green" aspect of them. For me the risk (and being inexperienced with steamers) is too high.

Never used a steamer. I'd like to try one out and see what it can and can't do. For carpets I've always used an heated extractor

I've seen damage from them using it the proper way.

Well, can't believe I missed this but my wife noticed a good size dent in the steamer. It had to come from shipping. Will need to ship it back and get a new boiler. Not acceptable. I'm fussy with my stuff and being so close to the guage and it had to have been hit hard to cause the damage on the boiler like thus. Who knows what got rattled around internally. I have the worst luck when ordering stuff...

What materials pose a risk, I purchased a Vapor Chief 100 and I must say I really like it. I look at it as another tool in the tool box sure it could be overkill in some situations and they are not cheap.

I am on my second VX-5000. They are a great company. I use it in the interior of the car as well, but I was using it for other cleaning tasks for years before I got into detailing my cars, so I have not had a problem damaging anything. It does a great job for me.

On a side note about the company, my first unit developed a leak and I sent it in for service after 7 years. It was out of warantee but he gave me a $150 discount on a new unit. The seam in the boiler failed due to my failure to properly clean and maintain it. They gave me the discount and some free stuff as well. I highly recommend this unit for anyone considering a steam cleaner.
