Hey fellow AG'ers,

I though I would show my first headlight resto on a 2005 Honda CRV. The lights were badly oxidized and in rough shape. I used Meguiar's heavy-duty headlight restoration kit (Meguiars Heavy Duty Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit, Meguiars G3000, headlight polishing kit, severe headlight polishing kit, how to polish (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-hd-headlight-kit.html)) and it couldn't have been easier.

I tried that same kit last year on my wife and sons Camry's (2007 and 2001). The results were great (same as what you obtained), but the sealant they include in their kit isn't the greatest because their headlights started getting oxidized after 1-2 months.

That's what I heard about the sealant too. I'm hoping to reapply it every two weeks or so until I can get a good UV protectant on it. I've heard that opti-lens is good, but is there anything a bit cheaper, but will also last 6+ months?

Nice work!

I would recommend a high quality sealant. Many on here will recommend Wolfgang Sealant 3.0(or whatever it is called haha)or Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection. I don't have either of those, but have gotten pretty darn good durability from CG M-Seal myself.

You can use any sealant or wax, I would recommend a sealant for this application though due to the increased protection, and usually, durability that comes with a synthetic sealant.

Hope that helps!

When I do my wife's headlights, I'm using PBL paint coating to seal them, a true test to see how long that stuff really lasts.

If you want a spray get the McKee 37 coating

I agree. Stuff works great. Quick and easy and for the price you can't really go wrong. I'm sure you will get several suggestions but that's what I've used and works for me
