Doing this 1980's Kenworth Saturday. Never done a semi before, so this will be another off my detailing bucket list. It's been repainted at some point, but we don't know when. All I know is it's obviously single stage, and faded & oxidized pretty bad. Before authorizing me to do it the owner asked me to do a couple of test spots to see whether I could bring any shine back to it. I did the test spots in the pics really quick with Menzerna FG400 & an orange light cutting pad. He was pretty happy, & so was I. I've had good luck with Menzerna on single stage, so I'm taking all my Menzerna; FG400, SF4000 & 4500. Probably several other polishes & ALL my pads. Power Lock as LSP. I'll probably also go over it with CG EZ Creme glaze 1st to moisten the paint. Don't know how much gloss I can get out of it, but it'll be fun experimenting. I bought 6 new orange pads just for this job!

Since Ive never done one I really wasnt sure how many hrs it would take. My buddy who works for the company said he could get my $600, & I readily agreed.

Without the aluminum involved,I would say 4 to 5 hrs to complete that job.

Just doing the paint, no bumpers, tanks, interior, or anything else. Just hood fenders & cab.

I'd say 600 would be awesome for the hood, bumpers, and cab! Test spots look good. Good luck to you!

I did a Peterbuilt the other day. Had a hard time polishing the tanks. Any advice on product and equipment to get a mirror finish?

What have you tried so far as to polishing the tanks?

A local brand in my town metal polish.. It was a waste of time and I can't really fit a buffer in between. I heard sharkhide was good to use?
