1985 Bmw Black Single Stage Paint.

As you can see pretty heavy oxidation.

Clean up and prep, nothing unusual.

And since I was pressed with time and no time to soak it with Meq #7,

I simply used Flex with polishing pad and HD speed.

I knew HD speed is fairly aggressive, and really oily, so I went for it.

And this is the result.

And since I was pressed with time and no time to soak it with Meq #7,

The #7 It's a treatment to revitalize antique paint BEFORE ABRADING IT for people where it's IMPORTANT to do everything they can to SAVE the original paint so the car won't have to be repainted.

The practice certainly doesn't have to be done to every car and in fact in my original article I stress the word IMPORTANT in the third paragraph and explain exactly what and who this method is for.

The Secret to Removing Oxidation and Restoring a Show Car Finish to Antique Single Stage Paints (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/25304-secret-removing-oxidation-restoring-show-car-finish-antique-single-stage-paints.html)

For this car, I wouldn't have soaked the paint on this car with #7 either. That said - AFTER all the compounding and polishing then it is a good idea to apply the #7 so it can gorge into the pores of the paint before you seal it. This is the way we treated the antique single stage paint for these two cars, that is we did the compounding and polishing first and then before sealing the paint massaged the paint with the #7

So your approach was normal Antti especially since you were using a one-step cleaner/wax. Depending upon the money... I probably would have done the same thing.

Looks great and I bet the owner is thrilled!
