Hey all,

I have a question about pads for a GG6 when using HD Speed. Right now I have a bunch of 6.5" pads, I am thinking of getting a new backing plate and 5.5" pads that I will mainly use HD Speed with.
My first question is, will I see better results, or get the same results easier/quicker with the smaller pads?
Second question is, can I get away with just one color pad with just HD Speed?
Third question is, what color(s) would you get for HD Speed?
Last question is, what pad would you get?

thanks for your help and insight, all the different pads have always confused me.

Pad size won't change the result, but I do find smaller pads correct little bit faster when used with same machine.
(cutting power of a pad increases as pad gets smaller and thinner)

Your third and last question is basically the same thing, since every manufacture have different colored pads.
Anyways, AIO polishes can be used with all types of pads, such as polishing pads, finishing pad, even cutting pad, depends on the paint condition, but most people uses polishing pads for good cutting power and high gloss finish.
I personally use Buff and shine green polishing pad for most AIO work.
but I also use LC hydro tech orange polishing pad, meguiars polishing pad as well depends on how many cleane pads I have available lolll

I have used Orange B & S or LC Flat pads exclusively with HD Speed with amazing correction and finishing results. Orange is and will always be my first go to pad with Speed. The BMW I did on the HD AG product page was with my Duetto and an Orange pad.

I am using orange flat pads from LC also, just the larger 6.5 inch ones.

So you guys are thinking my money would be better spent someplace else other than a new backing plate and a bunch of 5.5 inch pads?

5 inch plate and pads will make your machine more agressive.

You can run 6.5 inch pads on the griots 6 because of the power and torque the machine has, on the pc 6.5 inch pads make the machine less agressive. But with the griots you'll be ok.

If your working on big wide open panels go 6.5 inch, if your working on smaller panels with countour go 5.5 inch.

Either way it's still a need to go 5 inch when you need it.

I suggest you get the 5 inch griots vented backplate, it's a plate designed low profile with cooling holes to maximize paint correction power while keeping pads cool.

And the pads i reccommend? Boss pads of course, they are low profile witch will enhance and accelerate the paint correction process. And make your griots garage 6 inch a beast.

Check out the youtube video I made using the griots 6 and the white boss pad.

I would reccommend the orange boss correcting pad with HD speed.

And I wouldn't prime my pad with HD speed as that will cause the pad to gum up really fast.

I've used speed with mf,orange, white and green pads. It just depends on the situation and budget. Speed is so versatile it can cut decent or just enhance gloss, love the stuff

So this backing plate Griots Garage 5 Inch Vented Orbital Backing Plate (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-5-inch-vented-plate.html)
Or this one Griots Garage BOSS 5 inch Backing Plate (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-boss-5-inch-backing-plate.html)

I figure I may as well get a 6 pack of pads
Griots Garage 5.5 inch BOSS Foam and Microfiber Pads - 6 Pack (http://www.autogeek.net/griots-boss-5-inch-pads-6-pack.html)
I have:
2 microfiber (I done have any in any size)
2 orange
1 white
1 black

I have 15 plus orange 12 white 5 black and 3 blue in 6.5 inch so do you think this is good, or should I swap out something?

thanks
