View Full Version : Polishing over repainted area(with a color pen)?

Hi all.

I have a client that wants me to polish his 2005 Mazda RX-8 that he just bought.
The previous owner had a plywood board fall on it. It made several good scratches on the hood and the roof.
So he gave my client a color pen to hide the scratches but he did an extremely poor job. Like he gave it to a 3 year old.
Obviously, it's not flat.

So, can I safely polish over the "repairs" or should I avoid them in order to not damage anything more than it is?

I don't have any pictures unfortunately.

•If you polish over the repairs, and
wind up "pulling them out"...
-what's the plan to re-repair what then
becomes your boo-boo?

On the other hand:
•If you completely avoid the repairs,
(and everything else around them is
polished to perfection)...
-they'll stick out like a sore thumb.

IMO:
Either scenario, if not signed-off by
the Client, would be certain to sully
your name/reputation.
