Hi all,

I am a new user and would like to understand which kind or model of polishing machine to go for. I prefer user friendly and all in one machine, is there any master can share with me?
Many thanks.

People are going to recommend the Griots Garage 6" DA with the purchase of a 5" backing plate as your best possible starting point based on quality, power, ability, ease of use, fairly reasonable price and warranty. I've never used the Griots 6" DA, but so many people can't be wrong about it. I own the upper level larger Griots Garage polisher known as the Griots 21mm. Don't start with the 21mm though..

I have a couple Porter Cable 7424xp tools. I always hear about them being under powered, but that hasn't been my experience. I've had my first one for six years now. Never had an issue with it at all.

Sounds like you're just after one for occasional home use?

As Eldorado2k said....Griots Garage 6" DA with the 5" conversion......plenty of power and a lifetime warranty

Hi Jerod,

depending on your budget you should also consider the FLEX XC 3401 VRG. The FLEX isn't cheap, but the chances are good that it will last a "lifetime". The biggest advantage is the forced rotation principle, this helps you to correct paint defects faster.

My recommendation also. Can't beat the warranty on the GG6

i've been using the GG6 with the 5.5 backing plate for the last couple of months coupled with the Boss pads and creams and I couldn't be happier. The pads and creams give you an array of choices for any car in any shape. The pads are extremely durable and the creams just wipe off with ease. I'm planning on perfecting my technique with the GG6(which is perfect for a beginner), then moving up to a G15 in the next year or so. You will not be disappointed!

If your budget allows, get one of the flex 3401 kits they have on AG. Start with that, grow into it & you will be glad you did. You won't be wanting to upgrade down the road, maybe just want to add another to the mix. Great machine, not hard to master & very well built. Good luck whichever you choose

every detailer/enthusiast should own at least one traditional pc-style DA, and with that said the GG6 is the way to go..

I look at it this way....IMO a great starter kit would be the GG6 or PC7424XP. Both are great, however, the GG6 is more powerful than the PC. I have the PC and it is still used as my mini DA and wax applicator. If it were me and based on the numerous forum comments go for the GG6. It cost just a little more than the PC and they share the same backing plates and many other pads.

If you were looking to spend a little more get the Flex 3401 or the Rupes or Boss system. I prefer the Flex as that thing is a beast! It will reduce your correcting time drastically. If you become proficient at using the Flex, you will see how easy it is to use.

But if you are just doing this for a hobby, get the GG6 with the 5" Backing Plates. You can also get the 3" backing plates for it to. With the right adapters you can go all the way down to 1" BP.

I still like my PC7424XP though!!....LOL
