Hey guys! I'm brand new to the forum. I have owned my Silverado 1500 Z71 4X4 for many years.. I removed the side door moldings with a heat gun and the 3M Pinstripe wheel remover with no problems back in 2011. One of my finest detailing jobs as you cannot tell the moldings were installed.

But randomly today I felt like removing the tailgate Chevy and FlexFuel emblems with the same tools. After repeating the same, exact steps I did for the side door moldings, there's still some residue left behind, but my question is: are the yellow blotches pictured below spots where I burned the clear coat (with the eraser wheel)?

I'm really bummed out. Appreciate any feedback..

Does the area look dull compared to the the area that you didn't use the eraser?

Possibly no. Try wet-sanding then polish the area. If it's gone, then that's your 2nd finest detailing job. ;)

Thanks for the response guys. The paint still feels smooth, so I think that's a good sign.

I bought a heavy duty clay bar and lube from Chemical Guys. Hopefully that combo does the trick.

You could also try a cleaner wax, or a light polish.
