I am wanting to build a room in my shed to detail cars, what would be the optimum lighting scheme to use overhead ? Would you just use fluorescent fixtures, or is there a better way ?

Thanks for the input...

LEDs are the way to go. If you can hook up lights to the ceiling, like the long ones, Home Depot sells plug and play Philips LED 4 foot bulbs.

Also, quick education if you aren't aware of the color of light.
You can find the kelvin rating, which is the color temperature on all bulbs sold here, its regulated I think. The higher the color, the whiter it is (basically), and the lower, then the more orangish it looks.
The range is usually 2100k to 6500k.

5000k is the kind you want.

Another is lumen count. More = brighter.

The Philips ones I'm recommending is a Philips LED 4 foot, 5000k color temp, 2100 lumens.

Great bulbs.

Check 1000 bulbs.com. Way cheaper than Home Depot

I've got just enough room to make a "detail cave" ! Boy is the wife going to be surprised when she finds out she is donating her parking spot in the shed !!

Pictures do not do them justice but they are super bright. They will show any scratches or swirls. They also are directional so I have them adjusted to the middle of the garage where I park customer vehicles when detailing.

They are actually industrial lights. A customer of mine works for a company that installs industrial lighting in factories and such.

I took down the light fixtures and wired in a single outlet so they can be ran off the switch like before. No covers on yet. I am going to make custom ones so don't mind that.

If you look on my white Lexus you can see how it lights up the paint. Any imperfections can easily be seen.
