Hi guys,

I was doing a paint correction on my dad's 2001 F150 and after compounding the first section of the hood I noticed a bunch of small slits/cracks in the paint. Most are just straight lines about 1/4" long and a few look like tiny spider webs. I tried to take some pics but it was really hard to get a decent shot of them. Could this be the start of clear coat failure? The truck has always been garage kept and was basically a garage queen the first 10 years of it's life. It doesn't get the best care now as a DD, but I try to wash and wax it at least twice a yr.

Looks like crow's feet to me, which is a type of clear coat failure.

Thanks guys, I was afraid that's what it was. What would be the most likely cause for this? Is there anything that should/could be done to help keep it from getting worse?

No cure. Wax, sealant, or coating will slow down the progression.
