So I have water spots remaining after I clayed the car. I don't want to polish it just yet as I had a respray done on my front bumper.

My question is this. I haven't waxed the car in 5 months since I bought it new (its a 2016 VW GTI). I had it clayed, paint sealed, etc a month after I bought it. Will waxing the car now with remaining water spots make the water spots harder to remove later? I know NOT to wax the respray area for a few months.

Thanks in advance to the advice!

Can't you polish everything but the front bumper?

IMO if the water spots are still on the surface, it would be a bad idea to wax over them. If they are already etched (in that you can't see them except when you look at them indirectly, kind of the way you look for swirls) I don't think you need to worry about them now and can wax over them.

Agree with Setec. Not that waxing over them would be horrible as eventually the wax will dissipate, but, just polish everything but the front bumper. Best of luck.
