Does anyone try to polish the roof of an SUV with an electric polisher while standing on a ladder? Seems like it could be a little dangerous

I use a sturdy step ladder like this: Never been a problem. Get a good one. Just FYI the one below is simply an example.

as mentioned above, you can go to hd or lowes and get one of these for around/under $50. for extra grip, go to a skateboard shop and get some grip tape and apply on top...

Being vertically challenged, those work platforms are still not tall enough for me. I invested in a 6 ft Werner Podium Ladder...a little pricey....but useful around the house as well

These are essential! More than one is better because you can have one to put your product on and one on either side of the vehicle.
Here is where I hope I can inject some advice (usually due to a learning experience).

My advice is if you use a work platform, go to your local moving store (U-Haul, HD, Lowes, HF) and get a moving blanket. Drape the moving blanket over the work plat form.

If you notice the work platform has locking mechanisms on either side of the swing-outs. There is a protruding rivet and sharp edges and corners to the work platform.
If you lean a certain way, you do not want the work platform hit the side of the vehicle. The edges are so sharp it will actually remove paint all the way down to the base metal.

Again, work platforms are great, but remember get moving blankets and put them over them. I'd rater buff out a few minute scratches caused by a moving blanket than tell a custy I need to repaint her door.
