CA Motorcycle License???

I been thinking about getting myself a bike for commuting to work. I was wondering what are the requirments to obtain a M1 license? From what i read i have to take the basic ridercourse but it says if your under 21. I turn 21 next month, so do i only have to take the written exam? I been looking online on the DMV website and cant seem to find the requirements if your older then 21. Does anyone on here from CA have their M1 license? or know anything about this? Any help would be appreciated.

I got my M1 back in '03 and had to take the written and on-bike tests...and I am (and was then) well past age 21. So unless something's changed, which I don't think it has, you'll have to take both.

The only exception to taking the DMV on-bike test is if you take and pass an MSF course. With that certificate the DMV will wave the on-bike test.
