Hey guys! My autogeek order arrived today and decided to order this! I'm now thinking this product is not going to finish up as shinny as I was hoping for without adding another step, polish.

Should I return this back and order the HD Adapt or keep it? I see this product rated an 8 on a cut but 5 on shine.

I am not familiar with that product. I happen to use Pinnacle Advanced Compound, Swirl Remover and Finishing Polish. The Advanced Swirl Remover has good cut and finishes down nicely, often eliminating the polishing step. I am not a pro, but have used this on friends vehicles with my Flex 3401 VRG and Lake Country 5" Hybrid pads.

The Heavy Cut 1000 is for certain a 2-step compound, meaning you will have to follow up with a polish every time. I use it only with my rotary and a wool pad after wetsanding new paint, as it's an old-school compound (i.e. "rocks in a bottle") and offers more cut than FG400, but it's at the cost of better finishing ability. If you're looking for a compound that can be one-stepped, I'd go for FG400 or Adapt, as you had mentioned.

I agree with you, and I also use it on heavily swirled hard paint, with hard foam or wool, rotary or 3401.
I have the old version, did you try the new one, as pictured?
I read they changed it, I was wondering what is your input in case you tried.
Best regards

Don't think they changed it.

Return it, IMO.

Where does the product state the cut and shine ratings?

That's the old chart, new chart has 1000 heavier in cut than FG400 but lighter than SHC300. 1000 is a rotary only compound.

That's the old PowerGloss compound. I've had bottle for probably 10 years now. I only use it when I know that 2nd step will be required anyways. There's better choices for compounds now and its definitely not a 1-stepper.

Let me ask you this, would I be able to use a Meguiar's Ultimate polish to finish off this compound and if so what pad color would you recommend I use for the ultimate polish by Meguiars?white, green?

On autogeek description they say this is the new version of the power gloss compound. So what's new about it

Says changed the name and label but same product, just like all the others, same product just Menzerna's ongoing renaming every couple of years.
