Ok I have an idea, but want some feedback. I notice the truck the license plate had left some marks from rubbing. Plus a very faint line on my car. So... I went to the craft store and picked this up. I was thinking of cutting small strips and placing it under the edges of my license plate. I am concerned that the adhesive might not be strong enough and it might hold moisture. I went to auto zone and the guys looked at me like I was nuts. They don't sell any ruber strips with adhesive backing.:D Here is a pic of what I bought.

After I bought this, I also thought about checking with the dealership. Not sure why I didn't think of that first.
Here is what is already on the car.

Feed back please and try not to roll your eyes
Thanks! :D

eh, the parts stores should sell little stick on rubber nipples.

I had to get some when I bought a hood/bug deflector and they weren't in the box. I'll see if I can find a pic or a link to what I am referring to.

Looks good Tonya. And I am sure the dealer would have charged $50 for those if they even make them...you did it the cheap and effective way.

Self-adhesive, molded, polyurethane bumpers - poly bumpers, bumpers, plastic bumpers (http://www.bruceplastics.com/pages/polybumpers.html)

something like #3335 or 3302

Maybe 4 across the bottom of the plate.

Heck, I think they may carry something like that in Wal-Mart in the hardware dept. by the paint/ceiling fans/nuts & bolts

Good going Tonya. You might be surprised what you find at the hardware store, also. They have rubber and felt pads at different thicknesses.

Weather stripping works too.

Being an audiophile I always install a nice system in my car ...and don't want the tag buzzing. I always use a layer of generic Dynamat on the back of the tag ...then go to Lowe's / Home Depot and find some "closed cell" weather stripping 3/4" wide x 3/8" thick ...I run 5-6 strips vertically so water can drain out. NEVER use felt or 'open cell' weather stripping ...they hold moisture.

If you don't want any adhesive crap at all, then you can get some rubber O'rings from a hardware store and install them behind the plate around the screws. They lift the plate away from the paint, no adhesion, don't hold water and are easily installed and removed..

I guess I should have stated ...the weather stripping goes on the tag. Excellent idea about the O rings.
