I got this a few days ago from AG and I love it! It's perfect for motorcycles, jet skies, headlight restorations, and taking out scratches on any type of vehicles. I highly recommend this mini rotary polisher! You can go from a 1" bp to 3" bp. I'm not sure if you can go above the 3" bp I haven't tried if anyone knows if it can be used with higher bp please let us know!

I've been dreaming of the Kompakt for quite a while now. Can't wait to be able to afford it.

I hate mine, I rarely if ever (like never) use it over my Rupes Mini. For me it was a total waste of money.

I like the PE8, it can get into areas that the Mini cannot.

Congrats! Thanks for the mini review.

I'm hoping one day to add it to my collection. For the time being I am using the PE14.

Would you be interested in parting with it?

I am beginning to agree with you

As far as running larger pads with the PE8... I ran it for about 10 minutes with a 5.3" wool pad and the tool became too hot to hold on to. I do not think the machine will tolerate larger pads without failing in short order.

As an F.Y.I. - You asked this question in another thread to which it was answered:

I'm asking if I can use the flex to correct my whole hood i'm asking that because it's such a small rotary yes I know I asked about for smaller spots but I'm wondering if they can also do larger

Short answer, you can... Nothing and no one is going to stop you, except you'll be doing it at the risk of burning your clear coat.

FLEX PE8 Kompakt Rotary Polisher, motorcycle polisher
- The FLEX PE8 Kompakt Rotary Polisher is a purpose-built polisher designed specifically for small, intricate body panels.
- Designed for use with pads ranging from 1 to 3 inches in diameter.

Your asking if you can use a PBM (Purpose Built Machine) to do something other than it's intended design. The problem lies in the fact that it's a direct drive rotary style tool which is not dual action. The second problem is the heads are only designed for 1 to 3" pads, the smaller the pad, the more heat you will generate.

If you have a DA (PC 7424) that is what you will use for the majority of the vehicle. Preferably 5.5" Pads with a 5" backing plate. Switch to a 3" backing plate and use 4" pads for the tight areas. I have a three DA's, GG15 and PC's, and one of the PC's has a 3" backing plate for the smaller tight spots, I use the GG G15 on the majority of the vehicle.

My suggestion is to pick up Mike Phillips book "Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine". He dedicates several sections (chapters) to DA, comparing various DA's, backing plates etc... to Rotary with various pad combinations and how to use them all. Mike Phillips Detailing Books 3 Pack

It's not worth the trouble of selling it. LOL. For what it would cost to ship it you'd be better off buying a new one and getting the warranty.

I don't know why anyone would use the Kompakt for polishing a hood or run a 5 inch + pad on it. It's called Kompakt for a reason. To use in small and hard to access spots.
I want to get one specifically to do headlights restoration. I'm currently using a drill. Does the job but very unpractical.

This. Not sure why people are hating the Kompakt. A competitor for this polisher would be the RUPES Nano, which is almost 3x the price, but because it is hybrid (rotary and DA). I have the Kompakt and I love it.

The RUPES Mini, which cost 2x the price, is a different league IMO, because you can use only 3" pads on it.

So, for me, this could be the "desired" arsenal for the majority of detailers out there:

Small polisher that can handle from 1" to 3" pads
Medium polisher that can handle from 3" to 6" pads
A rotary polisher to work on large flat panels

The brand of the machine polishers is up to everyone's choice and budget.

Finally saved enough money for a Kompakt. Will order soon. I said I was mainly going to use it for headlights but one on my friend tried to remove glue(from duct tape) around the driver's window with regular soap and some sort of rag. You should see the thing now. It looks like he used a steel wool pad. I guess it will be perfect for the Kompakt.
