Its good to be back, just got off a deployment and picked up a new car. I had a 2007 GT before but sold it 2-3 years back due to being in flight school for 2 years and moving constantly across the country. Good to see the site has grown. Unfortunately someone stole my detailing bag with all my expensive menzerna/chemicals and polisher... so Im kind of starting a square one.

I'm just looking for the car washing basics right now...looking for a new car wash soap and a wax. Im almost out of my Optimum car wash and Collinite 845. Was thinking of trying a new car wash and wax, but wanted some opinions. I was pretty satisfied with both products but its been a few years since i've bought anything.

Edit (pics are after the cars first coat of 845)

I have a '16 GT in Ruby Red, I love Hyperwash. 845 is usually my go to, but I have a new jar of XMT180 and it looks fantastic (although no longer available). I ordered Uber coating and will use that once I do a paint correction.

It's tough to beat Optimum Car Wash - if I was you I'd keep doing what you're doing.

I just got done washing my van with Optimum car wash. I'm almost out of my first 32 oz trial. I want to try something else, but feel nothing can be that much better. I'll probably order a gallon of Optimum.

I would look at the 3D/HD line of polishes. If you haven't tried HD's Speed AIO, the stuff is awesome. I want to order HD's 8oz trial bottles of AAT compound and polish. I have tried Menzerna and love the FG400 and SF3800.

Thank you for your service. What are you flying? Pictures of your bird, please:)

Cardaddy got me onto Hyperwash with CG Mr. Pink & Honeydew in the foam cannon. I follow up with Hyperwash in the two bucket and so far have no need to change.

The mighty Navy P-3C orion. Not one of our squadrons' actual planes...but you get the idea. I'll see if I can dig up some deployment pictures if you want some more.

I just recently tried the Duragloss 111/601 combo and I am completely blown away! Gloss like crazy. I can't even believe a gloss like this is possible without first machine polishing. I just did a hand application and was thoroughly impressed.

Duragloss 901 serves me well. I buy it by the gallon from the rain forest when it drops to $21. Gold class is another great shelf product that I have a lot of. I haven't used the Optimum, but hear great things about it.

I always liked Optimum Car Wash except the price. That being said if you're looking for a car wash soap that leaves nothing behind you might want to consider 3D Pink Car Soap. Good price, great lubricity and rinses well.

After a polish, my 2014 Mustang looks insane with Pinnacle Souveran wax. I find that it's really easy to work with as well.

I have to agree. It's a great soap. Hyperwash is also another fine option. Both are priced about the same.

Optimum Car Wash Gallon: Concentrated auto shampoo with optimum suds to wash away grime from your car. (http://www.autogeek.net/opt200128.html)

Meguiars Hyper-Wash is a concetrated car wash for frequent or professional detailing. Super foaming, long lasting car shampoo from Meguiars. (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiar-s-hyper-wash.html)

Have you thought about coating your car? I would consider using gloss coat and continue with Optimum Car Wash.

Optimum Complete Prep & Coating Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-paint-prep-kit.html)

I had not really put much thought to that...I might have to take a closer look at that.
EDIT* after looking at it, as cool as the opti coat looks. Im not sure I really have time to do a full paint correction on the car....not to mention all my polisher and polishes got stolen a while back, so now Id have to buy all that stuff. If I had my buffer still, I would probably really consider making time for this tho...seems super practical.

Also Freshjive44...I got a jar of 2-3 year old Pinnacle souveran in the garage that I use to use on my 2007 vista blue, stuff is legit. I forgot about it until you said that. I will definitely give it a try once summer time comes full swing up here in washington. Hopefully it looks as good on the Magnetic grey as it did the blue.

Ultima Car wash is great stuff and leaves no residue behind. It is a little pricy, but worth it. Or stick with the Optima.
