Well..return business is the best business...before, this was a test vehicle for my PC some new compounds/polishes......it worked well.... but sure enough this Mustang was in bad shape again...it is regularly maintained by the owner...just improperly....lots of wash/wax induced swirls...the hood was in the worst shape...lots of deep swirls and pitting...so Uni-grit got the call of duty again on this one...

Process:

Wash:
The car was actually pretty clean...just a quick wipe down with Spray and Wipe...and a good wipe down of all the nooks and crannies for trapped dirt....

Clay:
Knowing that I wash polishing...I went ahead and busted out a new toy...my Hi-tech body sponge...it worked well at lifting contaminants out of the paint...it marred it up pretty good...and for those looking into this it does need to be cleaned EVERY panel otherwise build-up scratches the next panel....definitely not a clay for everyday use like Riccardo clay or Pinnacle Poly Clay......but it does work FAST...claying took all of ten minutes...still up in the air if I like it...

Wet sanding:
Meguiars 2000 grit Uni-grit sandpaper got the call of duty on the hood, trunk lid, and spoiler of this car...they by far had the most swirling that would just take too long to polish out....sandpaper has been soaking for a couple days and Synthetic QD was used as lube....

Compounding:
3M rubbing compound and 100% twisted wool Lake Country pad was used to remove the sanding marks...Lake Country CCS yellow and orange pad with Optimum compound on a couple tough spots..and I resurrected the Diamond Cut 1.0 and 1.5 on some of the rough spots just for nostalgia :)...played around with Menzerna SIP and Lake Country purple foamed wool as well...by far finished out the best as shown in the pic

Polishing:
Menzerna 106ff and a Lake Country CCS white polishing pad...nuff said....

LSP:

Well..since I FINALLY want to try and win a show and shine contest after multiple submissions I know black is always best in showing off your work...and luckily the owner needs some durable protection to boot...(mainly so he will keep his hands of the car until he pays me to wash it again..(I told him to back away from the Turtle Wax!!!) so out came the dusty bottle of Collonite 845 IW and me accepting the fact that I was about to ruin and applicator pad...and by the way...this stuff is detergent proof..it is still oozing out of my applicator pad...

Even after washing with the toughest stuff I had.....XMT pad cleaner 3 TIMES!!!...you can still see Collonite 845 IW oozing out of the pad...no wonder this stuff is so tuff....

PICS!!

Hood swirls...

First wet sanding pass...I did do a second pass to even out the sanding marks and level the paint.....I know...scary looking

After compounding...(SIP and purple foamed wool)...you can still see a couple light swirls around the flash..nothing 106ff couldn't handle :righton:
