    Pictures from past classes

Here's just a sample of the tools you'll learn how to use via hands-on experience on incredibly cool cars...

    Rupes Bigfoot 21 & 15 Polishers + LHR75 on a 1959 Chevrolet Impala!

Next up, the guys are going to get some hands-on time behind the pneumatic 15 and pneumatic Mini Polishers.

    Rupes 21
Giving Mike a little hands-on training on arm speed, pattern and downward pressure, this is the first time Mike had ever used the Rupes 21 polisher...

    Rupes 15
Working with Derek and the Rupes 15 Polisher...

For getting the thin panel between the hood and the stainless steel trim we used the Rupes LHR75 3 Inch Pneumatic Random Orbital Polisher

    Finished!

Flex 3401 with 6.5" and 5" Hybrid Pads on a 1940 Ford Hotrod

Rotary Buffers on a 1966 Corvette Sting Ray

Meguiar's Microfiber Correction System on a 2008 Cadillac CTS

Here's Audry removing swirls and scratches out of the passenger side fender using the D300 Correction Compound

After priming the pad and thoroughly working the D300 Correction Compound over and into the fibers then add 3 small drops of product to the face of the pad and you're ready to start removing swirls and scratches.

    Speed Setting 4
Meguiar's recommends 4800 OPM's for removing defects and on the Meguiar's G110v2 you would put the speed setting on the 4 on the variable dial. Hold the pad flat to the surface, this is done best by using your forward hand to apply pressure directly over the top of the head of the polisher.

    Make slow overlapping passes
Then make slow, overlapping passes working a small section of paint at one time. a two foot squared section is usually too large to tackle at one time, especially for a finish with as many swirls and scratches as this Cadillac had, so use good judgment and divide each panel up into smaller sections and then work one section at a time.

When you finish with one section, inspect your results and if the results look good move onto a new section and overlap a little into the previous section.

    Inspect Results
After demonstrating how slow to move the polisher over the surface, the size of a section to tackle at one time and what "Section Passes" are and how to do them we turned the polisher off and inspected the results from the compounding step.

Here's Erik removing swirls and scratches out of the hood, note how he places his hand inside the D-Handle to position his hand directly onto the head of the polisher.

    Finished!

    Hand Sanding and Machine Sanding

Not on a rental car, demo hood or a cookie sheet but the real deal... this is a 1971 GTO Muscle Car!

And there's Sergio! I don't think I've seen this guy without a smile on his face.

Tavares wet sanding the roof by hand.

These guys did an excellent job. Sanding by hand is a delicate process that requires perfect technique, and these guys pulled it off successfully.

Mike going over the areas sanded by hand with the class.

Time to show the guys how it's done with the 3M Pneumatic Air Sander.

Mike tackling the small areas with the Griot's Garage 3" Polisher, Meguiar's 3" interface and 1500 grit sanding disc.

And then it was time to break out the trusty PC 7424XP.

Looks like two professionals in the making right there!

Sergio and Tavares tackle the roof with the G110v2 and PC 7424XP.

And again the Griot's 3" comes to the rescue!

Mike gets to work with Tavares and Daniel to finish the passenger side.

It's no coincidence that we had Tavares sanding the roof. He could easily reach the center of the roof with no sweat.

Mike sanding the intricate areas with the Griot's 3"

    Look at all that clear!

    Almost finished!

After wet sanding Mike shows the class how to properly remove sanding marks using a rotary polisher and a wool pad, the guys don't waste any time and get to work.

    Finished!

I checked with Nick this morning and he said the class is full and back ordered.

My next detailing boot camp classes are the same time every year, that way people can make their plans and adjust their schedules.
