Is this similar to the 3401 forced rotation but with a 15 throw? I know they had another model on display at Sema as well. Car looks great Mike and knowing flex, another great tool to get.

Nope, the XFE is free spindle, like a PC or Rupes. The XCE is a quieter forced rotation device, like the 3401.

Hey guys. Got to ask the Flex guys some questions at SEMA. Most of it has already been answered in this thread, so I'll just stick to the stuff that's new.

The XFE 7-15 150 is an all new free-rotation dual-action polisher with a throw of 15mm and is one of two new polishers introduced by Flex at SEMA 2015 (the other being the forced-rotation XCE 9-8 150). It will be available for preorder by many vendors in Feb 2015 and delivery will start Feb/Mar 2015. Prices have not been set but they say it will be close to the 3401. The number that was kicked around was $380, unofficially.

Okay so the two new polishers will be offered alongside the 3401 and PE-14?

I'd day each of the different machines catering to a different need.


It's less about the single perfect tool and more about the best tool for the job.

That's why it's nice to have options. Most pros start out like everyone else on earth and thats' working by hand including yours truly.

Then comes the day when we purchase our first polisher. For me it was a rotary buffer because this was back in the 1980's and we didn't have all of these tool options available. Then, as new tools are introduced and pros or people that buff cars for a living will add more tools to their collection.

Enthusiasts and weekend detailers also go down the same path... that is they start out working by hand and then purchase their first polisher. If they're happy with the performance of their choice then maybe that's all they need, especially if they're only taking care of their only daily drivers. If the desire for another polisher is strong or there's a need then at least they have choices today that we didn't have years ago.

And I don't think there will ever be a single tool that can do it all but instead the right tool for the job.

Great info on these machines. I can't wait to get my hands on one to check out, hopefully at Mobile Tech Expo. The XFE looks to be the next tool in the toolbox. Glad to hear how smooth both models run and that the XCE direct-drive runs cooler.
