Re: 2017 Hellcat - Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating
Very timely.
Completed a 2015 sublime green hellcat. Went with Blackfire sealant on the paint and the McKee's matte cleaner and protectant. Turned out awesome!
Have a purple one coming in. Plan to do a paint coating using the McKee's coating but have yet to decide which coating to go with on the matte hood and spoiler.
Will you have a more detailed video on this process using Dr Beastly's?

So those hoods are painted and not just "raw"?

Why would you think a major car company would send out a 70 grand car with an unpainted hood? And it’s a $1995 option. Satin black painted
Easy way to make more money !

How would you remove coating from a matte paint?
Generally as I understand---one should not clay nor run a polisher on matte surface.

Re: 2017 Hellcat - Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating
So who is Dr. Beasley then if the owner's name is Jim Lafeber?
I pretty sure once you lay down a coating on a matte hood like that you're in it for the long run. There are no re-do's. Sounds like a mistake will cost you $1995.

Yes. We shot around 5 brand new videos with Jim. Yancy is in charge of editing and as he gets to them he'll add them to our YouTube channel and I'll add them to the forum and my FB page.

Yes. Not sure the exact paint but it is paint, not primer or matte vinyl graphics.

Thanks for adding that info Matt - I'm going to guess it will cost at least that much to find a "quality" paint shop to "repaint" one of these hoods and get it right the first time.

Nothing wrong with asking and thank you for asking because now we know what it cost for this option.

Great question and my only guess would be to use some sort of solvent like Mineral Spirits or something else.
My other guess is once it's on stick a fork in it and call it done. There shouldn't be a reason to remove a coating unless it didn't look good after application. For this reason --> go with a product and brand you can trust.

We have a video coming out that will answer those question too... he is a PhD Chemist and owns his own car detailing shop. Very unique to own a car detailing shop and make your own products. I think it gives him and his brand a lot of credibility.
If you watch "My Classic Car" with Dennis Gage you will also see a brand new episode where the Dr. Beasley's story is shared by your truly.

I was thinking along the lines of the old Challengers and how their hoods were, still a major mfg back then too.

Re: 2017 Hellcat - Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating
Thanks Mike.
My thoughts and which I'll probably will do, is to coat the paint and just use the McKee's matte cleaner and protectant on the hood/spoiler for the time being. This McKee's matte stuff is pretty good and I like it a lot.
