    Re: Gyeon can coat prep

My Dodge Ram 2003 needs minor correction before GYEON CanCoat..............so I'm using a Buff&Shine
    UroFiber (Blk&White) Pad (3" & 5") & 3D One..........
Then wipe down with CarPro Eraser
Then I'll apply the Can Coat (Havent done it yet , My First Time)

I had 303 graphene on my paint, two coats over the last year… Decided to strip it off and put on Cancoat. All I did was wipe the surface down twice with IPA - 50-50 mix – and put on the cancoat….. it worked fine.

7 days with the original Can Coat before the first wash and 24h before getting wet. EVO 12h before getting wet and seems to not being any restrictions on the first wash. So you should be fine. Most of these takes a week or two before getting the self cleaning ability up and running great. Some apply Cure to help the first weeks with this. But just wash with a neutral soap with no gloss enhancer or wax in it and it will be fine. The time is a bit on the safe side from the manufactures.

I plan on applying 2 coats of Cancoat Evo and an application of Cure, all outside. How long should I wait to apply the second coat of Cancoat and how long should I wait to apply Cure after that?

    Thank you,
    Joe

You don’t need two layers of CanCoat. One layer is all that is needed.

It is one hour between topping CanCoat with itself or with cure.

Save time and do one layer.

After much deliberation (I`d also considered Overcoat and PA Cosmic spritz) I`m planning on using CanCoat for the first time as it seem this could be the product for me.

Car is a dark blue VW, paint is in good condition but I feel I need to polish off any previous LSP.
It will be prepared, decon, polish etc. but will be done outside.

I like some advice on polish/pad combo.
I have Megs ultimate polish, Sonax PF and S20 black but I`m happy to get some Gyeon Primer to try if necessary.
Best pads? I have a few random pads, CarPro white gloss pad, white Chem guys and Lake Country Orange.
Also happy to get some new pads if need be.
Also do I really need Cure?

I would use sonax and the orange pad.

I'm curious about what people will say about Cure. Jeff from Gyeon in a video said you should be good with cancoat after about 4 hours - can't remember the context. it was with esoteric car care. I will have to watch it again, i really don't want to use cure.

And gyeon primer is not necessary but i love using primer personally. Perfect finish has a nice user experience too.

First off cure smells amazing lol. It adds some slickness. All im going to say is next time i try to use it on my bkack car im going to cut it 1:1 like gyeon says to do if you have trouble with streaking...which i did.

Cure was nice to have on hand to rub out the one high spot i had on a roof 18 hrs after pure application.

Now for can coat evo...if your worried about the weather/bird bombs then use cure after. I however did not use cure after can coat evo and it rained, if i remember correctly 5 hours or so after application and i had no visable issues at that time

Cure is recommended if one is to leave the vehicle outside in the case of any kind of moisture.
