There are a lot of people with this perspective about things like emojis, social media, technology from the last decade, etc. They just avoid it all and associate it with the younger generation.
No reason to be offended.

One of our cars has sap all over the hood just like this. Looking for a way to remove it as well.

Hand sanitizer works. I have been witness to this happening

Re: How to remove tree sap
I remember Mike posted a helpful thread about this previously. I believe the key is to use hand sanitizer AND to let it dwell for several minutes before removing it. Since you are going to leave it on the paint for several minutes, you want to make sure to apply when the paint is cool, perhaps early in the morning. You do not want the hand sanitizer to dry on the paint before you can remove it.

I have used gel hand sanitizer to remove pine tree sap - The alcohol helps dissolve the sap.
Just apply a big blog, let it sit for a few seconds and wipe the area with your finger. Keep working the spot until it is gone, then work it again with a low/no nap MF towel.
Not sure if it will work differently than the IPA/water solution the OP tried.

Re: How to remove tree sap
I have always had luck with hand sanitizer gel on tree sap spots. I put a dab of it covering the sap, leave it set for about two minutes, and wipes right off with a microfiber cloth.

Re: How to remove tree sap
Just use straight alcohol.
Hand sanitizer probably has some kind of aloe Vera or something.
It works sure but I use straight alcohol instead.
Better yet stay away from pine trees.

I agree with you that alcohol will remove a lot of tree sap, but it may not remove sap that has been on the paint a long time and has hardened. The reason hand sanitizer may be better for hardened tree sap is that it allows for longer dwell time. Straight alcohol will evaporate very quickly. Buy hand sanitizer will not evaporate nearly as quickly, allowing for a longer dwell time.
