Re: Review: 3D ONE Hybrid Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish

I picked up a bottle to give it a try. I have not given it a try across various paints but these are my observations of it.

    Pros:
    Long working time
    No dusting
Good correction on medium hardness paint
Decent gloss for a one step compounding polish
Versatile based on using it with a microfiber pad and polishing pad

    Cons:
Oily which requires multiple wipes to remove the residue. A paint prep is definitely a must to remove all the oils
    Chemical scent

Overall it is a good polish.

Did a good job on this interior piece with a Buff & Shine Euro fiber and the Rupes iBrid nano

For those finding One oily and difficult to remove, how are you setting up, and reloading the pad with product?

I gave One a go yesterday, used yellow 7" Rupes yellow pad on both Flex 3401 & BOSS21. Was a new vehicle with the usual light swirling but the One was nice to work with, generally 4 passes and good to go.

Not big on pad priming so 3 drops (larger drops than one would use w something like Scholls) to reload. Sure can stretch the sections with One as it stays very workable for a long time.

Definately oily on removal, was using a Gyeon Polish Wipe for initial removal, followed by a 450gsm or so to mop up...just was easier that way. Somehow not as irritating as 'Menzerna oily' though.

I look forward to trying it on something that is really beat up to see that end of it.

3 or 4 pea size drops. Have used rupes mille pads and hybrid force. No difference.

Priming the pad with 4 drops and reloading with 3 after that. It is not difficult to wipe off it is just a bit oily that it takes more swipes to wipe it all off. The product itself is not sticking to the paint. Similar to Menz 3800 but with a little less oils. A prep wipe was the only way for them to be fully removed in my experience playing around with it. The scangrip is what I had to use to make sure everything was wiped off.

Re: Review: 3D ONE Hybrid Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish

I ran one today first with a mf pad and finished it down with a light polishing pad, probably a total of 6-8 passes, the finish was near a full two step correction and the wipe off maybe a little oil but for results that quick, I’ll take it

To be clear, it does not stick to the paint, it just requires too much buffing(oils smear). A prep wipe is definitely needed to see what you're working with. I was using 3 "large" pea sized drops. Today, I decreased to "small" pea sized drops which seemed to help. I do like how lubricated it is.

An obvious one, have you tried a different MF?

Anything over 350gsm is pointless with oily non-diminishing compounds.

Re: Review: 3D ONE Hybrid Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish

    Thanks!

So far I find One easier to remove than any of the Menzerna or Rupes polishes, but not M205 or Ultimate Polish. I think the Poorboy's was the easiest for me to remove.

I start with 4 drops, and reload with 2. On the smaller side. I wipe off with the popular blue non edged "rags", and so far so good.
