Re: Sticky Cobra clay bar mitt
I used it on my windshield first as recommended by the instructions. After use, I rinsed it off and set it on a clean terry cloth (rubber side up) in the garage and out of direct sun/heat. Now it's very sticky.

Re: Sticky Cobra clay bar mitt
My nanoskin sponge gets sticky after I clean the face of it with OPC, and I’ve never really even given using it a second thought.
I didn’t even know them being sticky was a bad thing, lol. I just assumed that’s how the surface feels after it’s broken in and clean. After a few sections of claying my sponge usually isn’t tacky anymore. Like half the hood and when I go to clean the face of it off, it feels fine to me.

Does anyone have experience with the Blackfire mitt? It’s significantly cheaper than the cobra but looks the same. Anyone no why the price is only $25?

Re: Sticky Cobra clay bar mitt
So... what I'm hearing is that it's not uncommon for the clay mitt to feel sticky and still work. However, there is a chance that a sticky clay mitt may scratch the paint. ???

Re: Sticky Cobra clay bar mitt
They are suposed to be a sticky after the break in on windows. That's one reason they pick up contaminants that is embedded on the paint. And one reason is to use a quality lubrication when useing it. Just like you would with a clay bar.
And inspect the clay alternatives before starting to use them. So they don't look like Eldos clay mitt on the left in the pictures. Then they are doing more damage than it's usefull.
The clay mitt you accidental had in the sun Eldo. The right part of the mitt looks like it has been getting the clay almost melted away. Have you tested to use that and how did it work? Or was it that one that did the scratching or was it that one on the left in the pictures?

I think they quit making them, now I’ll have to buy some other off brand.
I did just use it again today on a Toyota and it didn’t seem to mar at all.
