Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?

I still have 5 cans of CD2. I haven't used it in a long time. I stopped using aerosols on the engine. Didn't want to clean up annoying overspray anymore. I used to use it on wheel wells too if there was enough clearance. Then hit it with a hair dryer or heat gun to cure it. Used to last quite a while in the wheel well.

Sonus Trim & Motor Kote is my favorite. They should really sell it in bigger containers. I have used 303 in a similar fashion where lightly coated everything and then allowed it to self level and dry. Usually had to wipe something down were it doesn't dry well.

I have been wanting to try the WG Engine Cleaner that is supposed dry like it has been dressed.

Hyper Dressing if allowed to dry doesn't pick up dust. Haven't tried Sonus, it sounds like the bomb, but I haven't found a water-based trim coat yet that attracts dust if allowed to dry.

I use 303 Protectant for my interiors and I started using it on engine bays. I also use Wolfgang Vinyl and Rubber protectant for exterior trim and it is a great product. It should also serve well as an engine bay dressing. If you are looking at doing many cars as a business then it would not be very economical. If that is the case then I would recommend Meguiars Hyper Dressing.

I wish that I liked Sonus. I have 3 bottles of it. Spray it on engine wait an hour and put on another coat. Never touch it like instructions state. Always looks blotchy and uneven.
Tried it on 2 engines with same results. After a couple of days I gave up and wiped it smooth.
I will eventually try it again because I have heard so many good things about it.

I can confirm this. Sunday I cleaned the bay with wolfgang. No watter, just spray and wipe. Was very impressed. To the point that I don't feel like it even really needs a dressing. But I still ordered the sonus just to see if I can add some longevity.
