Re: Pressure that draws water from a tank
I have a Karcher k5. It will suck water. If you download the manual, it talks about it. They sell a special hose for this which probably is just to keep a normal garden hose from collapsing under the suction. I have done it successfully with a short garden hose out of a bucket. I think gravity feed would work fine using a garden hose.

Stay away from this one:
Honda GX200 6.5HP-AR Pump-2.8GPM-3300PSI
We had it less than 6 months before the pump went out. This model seems to be a dud. Simpson’s customer service is a joke as well and wouldn’t honor their warranty. I’ve had good success with anything that has a cat pump.

I picked up a used Ridgid model that is 3000 psi 2.6 gpm for $200 on craigslist about 7 months ago. It was used but looked only sparingly used. It has the 169cc Subie engine and a cat pump. I stripped the frame, wheels, handle and soap dispenser off and mounted to an isolated pressure washer mount. That thing has been a workhorse. I recently just did a full service on it and it runs great. Usually starts on the first pull. I liked it so much that I saw another used one on craigslist that was missing all the fittings for $80. I went and checked it out. Started on the first pull. I bought it for $80 as a spare or maybe to run a second rig.

Do you use a electric pump with your power washer or does it pull water?

I'm the one that told you to buy a pump and stop monkeying around with gravity feed because you want to be a professional. I use a Shurflo on demand. When we get to a job, we take the pressure washer from the trailer, set it on the ground, quick connect the hose to it, turn on the hose valve and switch power on to the pump. The whole thing takes two minutes. The pump only runs when you're using it.

Re: Pressure that draws water from a tank
That’s a good buy. I replaced mine with a Northstar electric with a cat. I stripped mine down a mounted it on the wall in the shop. That’s the best one I could ever ask for. It’s been awesome. Just change the pump oil and it’s good to go.
+1 For the pump. Some pressure washer require some pressure on the intake.

A belt drive pressure washer would fix that problem. They aren’t cheap so it’s based on your budget
